Policy Against the Sale of Harvested Plants and
Material from the Wild
Latest version: 29 Mar 2012
We continue to support the efforts of the International Carnivorous
Plant Society, the North American Sarracenia Conservancy and the many
other organizations that seek to curtail and, if possible, stop the
decline of carnivorous plant populations and their habitats in the wild.
In accordance with their efforts, we will never support the sale of
plants or plant material that is directly harvested from the wild.
Likewise, we discourage the introduction of carnivorous plants as
invasive species into habitats in which they are not endemic. |

entertain requests to ship plants potted, but those are almost always
sent USPS Priority Mail because of weight.

sales tax.

Replacement Plant Policy
Latest version: 12 May 2024
The cultivation of carnivorous plants is an exciting hobby that does
require practice. If you are a first-time grower, and are having
difficulty with one of the beginner plants listed on our catalog within
seven calendar days of receipt, we will replace the plant (one time
only) and try to help you figure out what growing conditions can be
altered to better suit your plant.
Note: plants eligible for replacement are those
indicated on our availability page as being recommended for
beginners, with a green dot ( )
next to its name or description.
Please contact us by email
or by phone (contact information at the bottom of every page) if you
are having difficulties. Please be prepared to send photos of the
plant for us to assess its condition.
If a replacement plant
is unavailable due to stock issues, a plant of a similar genus or a
refund may be offered in its stead..
Purchase of a
plant through our site is an acceptance of the terms and conditions
of this policy, and the understanding that these terms and
conditions may change.

Standard orders are scheduled for delivery at least two days in advance.
In the event that a next-day delivery is requested in New Jersey,
a $3 rush fee will be added to orders whose subtotal (before sales tax)
is $20 or less, or a $4 rush fee will be added to orders whose subtotal
is greater than $20. Requests

so that payment and delivery details can be worked out in real time.

Delivery Rescheduling and Order
Cancellation Policy
Latest version: 12 May 2024
Requests to reschedule within 12 hours of delivery:
Orders for which the buyer, within 12 hours of the previously agreed
delivery time makes a request to reschedule of a delivery may incur a
charge of $3 or 5% of the order total, whichever is greater, at the
discretion of Midtown Carnivores. A great deal of time is taken to pack
plant orders, and deliver them into Manhattan, and last-minute
cancellations of deliveries require us to re-transport the plants back
to their source at the end of the day, and unpack them into their
growing areas.
Requests to cancel within 12 hours of delivery, or non-delivery due to
failure to meet at the scheduled time/location:
Paid orders (or orders on deposit) for which the buyer requests a
complete order cancellation on or after 5:00 AM of the first scheduled
date of delivery may be subject to a (literal) restocking fee of $5 or
10% of the order total, whichever is greater, at our discretion.
(Cancellations requested prior to 5:00AM of the first scheduled date of
delivery will not incur a charge.)
The two fees in this policy may be mutually exclusive, at our
discretion.
All cancellation requests and rescheduling requests may be done through
email, phone and/or text. |
Cash Sales Policy
Latest version: 12 May
2024
As of May 15, 2015, all
orders for which cash is the requested payment method will require a
deposit of either $5 or 10% of the order total (whichever is
greater) via PayPal for the order to be placed. This deposit will be
applied to
the balance of the order upon delivery; the remaining balance must
be paid for by cash at time of delivery.
The deposit will be fully refunded if
the order if an order cancellation is requested by email at
least 12 hours prior to the scheduled time of delivery. Orders
for which cancellation is requested within 12
hours of the scheduled time of delivery may be subject to the
"Delivery Rescheduling and Order Cancellation Policy" above at our
discretion.
Repeat customers may request that this deposit process be waived, at
our discretion.
